Address: HÉROES DE LA PATRIA # 186. Colonia Valentin Gomez Farias. Puerto Vallarta. Jalisco 48320.

The house is a detached private home located in a traditional Mexican neighbourhood.  This area of Puerto Vallarta has been the business centre and heart of the town since the early 1940's. It still has the 'old town' feel to it with hundreds of small shops, family owned businesses and services. Many families that live here have done so for generations. This is a very welcoming area where you can practice your Spanish speaking skills. The families here will greet you daily with a cheery "Buenos Dias" "Buenas tardes" or "Buenas noches"  even the small children which is wonderful. The bustling tourist town of Puerto Vallarta has not changed the people that live here. The locals sit outdoors to talk and eat and spend time with family, friends and neighbours as they have always done. It is a very relaxed Mexican lifestyle.

The three story house is separated into 4 light and breezy apartments. Each apt. has its own separate entrance. We live upstairs in the penthouse of the building. "WE" are a husband & wife who moved here as a family with our two children from Rocky Mountain House, Alberta, Canada back in 1998.

At the gated entrance, there is a pleasant shady tiled patio with table and chairs for everyone's use surrounded by tropical plants and trees. The neighbourhood is VERY friendly and safe. Most everyone on our cobbled street owns their own home. It is a family oriented area with a few "Gringo" business owners that have lived here for decades. There is a bus, (Lopez Ruta B), which stops outside of the front gate of the house. The Ramblasses bus stops at the end of the street. Both will take you to and from the hub of the tourist area, Malecón and Zona Romantica for less than one dollar each way. If you want to stay clear of crowds, tourist bars as well as aggressive vendors, there are plenty of friendly, welcoming places around these Mexican neighbourhoods for you to explore.

A 24 hr. Taxi station is at the end of this street. There are multiple services right here or close by including:  Laundry (wash, dry & fold service), Restaurants, Coffee shops, Seafood market, Beauty Parlours, Fruit & veg. market, Taco stands, Clothing shops, Butcher shops, Sports bars, Bakeries, Salsa dancing studio, Martial arts dojo, Pharmacies, 24 hour Doctor (that does house-calls) Health clinics. Gyms.

We are close to hospitals, Several vets, Clothing boutiques, Beauty salons. Los Mangos library is less than a 10 minute walk. There are many events held at the library year round including an outdoor market. There are corner stores, Fruteria and a small family owned tortilla factory on our street where you can buy freshly made breads and tortillas. Donkeys, goats as well as cowboys are often seen along the cobbled streets in this area. Lots of roosters too! As I said, it's a "typical" Mexican neighbourhood. This is the REAL PV. It is not a typical tourist area, therefore you do not pay tourist prices. The Tianguis market (which is the largest in PV) is set up at the end of this street from early morning until dusk every Saturday year round. A Tianguis market is not a typical farmers (tourist) market where everything is overpriced. A local Tianguis market is where you will be very welcome to stroll around and explore the wares. It is quite an experience. It sells everything from live chickens to clothing to CD s/DVD s to food, fresh fruit/vegetables, to household items, tools, plants, furniture and everything in between.

There is virtually every kind of store, shop and service within a very short walking distance from the house. The Vallarta municipal sports stadium with jogging tracks, skateboard ramps, soccer and baseball fields etc. is less than a 10 minute walk (less than a 5 minute jog)

Popular restaurants such as ´Ernesto´s' Restaurant is less than a 10 min. walk. ´Los Muertos Brewing- Francisco Villa´ is just along the road. 'Whiskey Kitchen' is just minutes from the house. Mexican eateries are everywhere here.

Versalles neighbourhood has many wonderful new restaurants.

It is an easy and short 15 min. walk to Hotel zone beaches - less than a 1 kilometer walk from your door. The beaches are wonderful, clean and there are beach restaurants and services there. Swimming is very safe with a lifeguard tower.

We are about the same distance from 'Old town' as we are to the Marina area and the adjoining town of Pitillal. Buses and taxis are cheap here if you don't care to walk. There are no hills to climb around here. We are very centrally located to everything in Puerto Vallarta.
